Nasolabial Folds

The smile lines that linger.

Those creases that run from your nose down past the corners of your mouth, they used to disappear when you stopped smiling, and now they kind of stay. It can make you look a little tired or serious even when you feel great. You're so not alone, and the good news is there's a lot we can do to soften them, gently and at your pace.

CONCERN & CAUSES

Why Smile Lines Deepen

Nasolabial folds aren't really about the lines themselves, they're about what's happening above them. As the cheeks lose volume and support, the tissue settles downward and folds at the crease. Understanding the why helps us pick the right approach.

01

Lost Cheek Support

The cheeks naturally lose volume over time, and as that support fades the tissue drifts down and folds at the smile line. That's why we often look up at the cheek, not just at the crease itself.

02

Collagen Slowing Down

Skin makes less collagen as the years go by, so it loses some of its springiness. With less structure underneath, folds can settle in more deeply for most people.

03

Everyday Movement

Smiling, talking, and laughing all crease the same spot thousands of times. Over the years that repeated movement can etch the fold a little more, which is completely normal.

04

Lifestyle & Sun

Sun exposure, smoking, and big weight shifts can speed up volume and collagen loss. None of it is your fault, and a few gentle habits can help protect the work we do together.

Treatment Benefits

Restore support for softer smile lines

Smile lines usually respond best when we rebuild the support above and within them, not just fill the crease. Your provider looks at your cheeks and folds together first, then maps a plan that can soften the lines while keeping your face looking like you. No pressure, just real talk.

Dermal Filler

Dermal Filler

A hyaluronic acid filler that restores lost volume in the cheeks and along the fold to lift and soften the crease.

Sculptra

Sculptra

A poly-L-lactic acid collagen stimulator that prompts your skin to rebuild its own collagen over time.

How to protect your results after treatment

Filler and collagen work look their best when the skin around them stays healthy and supported. New collagen takes weeks to settle, so a few gentle habits help your results hold and keep your skin happy between visits.

Cleanse Gently

Cleanse Gently

Use a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser with lukewarm water and a soft touch. It keeps treated skin calm while everything settles after your visit.

Support Collagen Daily

Support Collagen Daily

Once your skin is settled, a medical-grade retinol can support the same collagen turnover we're building in clinic. Build it in slowly and keep it consistent rather than aggressive.

Hydrate the Barrier

Hydrate the Barrier

Well-hydrated skin holds volume and firmness better. Layer a hyaluronic acid serum under your moisturiser to keep your barrier resilient between sessions.

Skip Pressure Early On

Skip Pressure Early On

For the first day or two after filler, go easy on facials, heavy massage, and sleeping face-down so everything settles evenly. Your team will walk you through the timing.

Protect Daily

Protect Daily

Broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, reapplied every couple of hours outdoors, helps slow the collagen and volume loss that deepens folds in the first place. A daily non-negotiable for most people.

FAQ

Common questions about
nasolabial fold treatment

For most people we can soften smile lines a lot and make them look much more rested, rather than erasing them completely. A little movement and expression is natural and looks like you. We'll always be honest about what's realistic for your face before we start.

It depends on your skin and how the folds have formed, which is exactly what your provider checks at your consult. For a lot of people it's filler to restore support now, sometimes with Sculptra to build collagen over time. We'll map it out together, no pressure.

That's the whole goal. Your provider often supports the cheek above the fold rather than overfilling the crease, so your smile lines soften while your expressions still look like yours. Results vary, and we go gradually so it stays subtle.

It depends on the treatment and your skin. Filler results can last many months for most people, and Sculptra builds gradually and tends to last a good while as the collagen settles. We'll give you a realistic timeline and a simple maintenance plan.

Usually very little. You might see some mild swelling or a small bruise for a few days, especially with filler. We'll walk you through exactly what to expect so you can plan around anything important.

Most people find it really manageable. We use numbing where it helps and keep you comfy the whole time. If you're nervous, just tell us and we'll go at your pace. We've got you.
