Not really. You can head right back to your day. We just ask you to stay upright, skip hard workouts, alcohol, and saunas for about 24 hours, and avoid rubbing your forehead for the first few hours so the product can settle where we placed it.

It can affect the brow if placement isn't planned carefully, which is exactly why we assess your brow position first. Done thoughtfully, we keep your brows looking natural. For some people we'll suggest a balanced approach with the frown lines, and we'll explain all of this at your consult.

A few people are not good candidates, and a few should simply wait. We do not treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin infection or breakout at the injection site, or if you have had an allergic reaction to a botulinum toxin before. If you have a nerve or muscle condition such as myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or ALS, this treatment may not be right for you, so please tell us. One product, Dysport, is not suitable if you are allergic to cow's milk protein, but we can often use a different product instead. None of this is meant to worry you. We go through your full health history with you at your consult, and if it is not the right time, we will tell you honestly and suggest what to do instead.

Most side effects are mild and go away on their own. The common ones are a little redness, swelling, or bruising where we inject, and sometimes a mild headache, which usually settles within a few days. Because the treatment relaxes muscles, a small number of people notice a temporary droop in an eyelid or brow, or a slightly uneven result. When this happens it is almost always minor and it fades as the product wears off, usually over a few weeks. Serious reactions are rare. Please call us right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, muscle weakness that spreads beyond the treated area, or any sign of an allergic reaction such as a rash, hives, or swelling.
