Frown Lines (The 11s)

The 11s are the two vertical lines that show up between your brows, named for how they look like the number 11. They come from years of frowning, focusing, and squinting. A neuromodulator gently relaxes the muscles that pull the brows together, so for most people the lines can soften.

Honestly? Barely. It's a few tiny pinches and takes about 10-15 minutes. Most of our clients say it's way easier than they built it up in their head. If you're nervous, just tell us and we can use ice or numbing to keep you comfy.

A lot of people start seeing the area soften within 3 to 5 days, with the fuller result settling by 1 to 2 weeks. Results vary, which is why we check in with you along the way.

Not really. You can head right back to your day. We just ask you to stay upright for a few hours, avoid rubbing the area, and go easy on alcohol, saunas, and hard workouts for about 24 hours so the product can settle where we placed it.

It depends on how set the line is. Relaxing the muscle helps a lot of people soften the 11s, especially newer lines, but a deep, etched-in crease may only soften rather than disappear. We'll be honest with you about what's realistic and whether pairing it with another treatment makes sense.

A few people are not good candidates, and a few should simply wait. We do not treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin infection or breakout at the injection site, or if you have had an allergic reaction to a botulinum toxin before. If you have a nerve or muscle condition such as myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or ALS, this treatment may not be right for you, so please tell us. One product, Dysport, is not suitable if you are allergic to cow's milk protein, but we can often use a different product instead. None of this is meant to worry you. We go through your full health history with you at your consult, and if it is not the right time, we will tell you honestly and suggest what to do instead.

Most side effects are mild and go away on their own. The common ones are a little redness, swelling, or bruising where we inject, and sometimes a mild headache, which usually settles within a few days. Because the treatment relaxes muscles, a small number of people notice a temporary droop in an eyelid or brow, or a slightly uneven result. When this happens it is almost always minor and it fades as the product wears off, usually over a few weeks. Serious reactions are rare. Please call us right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, muscle weakness that spreads beyond the treated area, or any sign of an allergic reaction such as a rash, hives, or swelling.
