What Botox for TMJ can help with

Here's where it shines

daytime jaw clenching

Daytime clenching

If you catch yourself clenching while you're focused, stressed, or scrolling, the jaw muscle stays switched on all day. Relaxing it a little can help that tension ease for most people.

Treatments+

We place a Health Canada-approved neuromodulator into the masseter so it can't clench as hard. For most people that means a more relaxed jaw and less of that mid-afternoon ache within a couple of weeks.

Causes+

Stress, deep focus, and screen time all keep you clenching without noticing, which leaves the muscle tight and overworked.

Why clients choose us

Real care from a team that gets it

At Real Beauty Rx, you're looked after by an experienced team of injectors, nurses, and aestheticians who genuinely care about how you feel, not just how you look. Warm, honest, and zero judgment, every single visit.

Your treatment is performed by Jennifer Holman, NP, our owner and a Nurse Practitioner with over 14 years in medicine. She is a Key Opinion Leader for Galderma and Xcite Technologies, Chair of APANS, a lead injector-trainer for THMA, and known for her ultrasound-guided, full-face approach. You may also be cared for by our aesthetic nurse injector Lia Harding, RN. We keep it gentle, explain as we go, and never rush you.

We check how your jaw actually moves and how strong the muscle is before anything's planned, so your dose is built around your tension. All treatments follow Ontario's medical oversight rules.

Our whole goal here is easing how your jaw feels. We dose conservatively so you stay comfortable and natural, while still looking completely like you.

What the Beauty Club says

A few words from our Innisfil and Barrie clients.

Natasha has completely mastered the art of combining a results-driven medical treatment without sacrificing the relaxation of a traditional facial treatment. Instead of just waiting around during masks or product activations, she uses that time to melt away every ounce of tension you are holding by adding scalp and shoulder massages. I left with glowing, deeply treated skin and my mind and body super relaxed.

Good questions

Your Botox for TMJ questions,
answered

Everything you might be wondering before your first visit. Still curious about something? Just ask us.

Honestly? Barely. It's a few tiny pinches and takes about 15-20 minutes. Most of our clients say it's way easier than they built it up in their head. If you're nervous, just tell us and we can use ice or numbing to keep you comfy.

We place a neuromodulator into the masseter, the big muscle you clench and grind with. Relaxing it a little means it can't work as hard, which can ease the tension, soreness, and clench-related headaches. We'll explain exactly how it works for your jaw at your consult.

The clenching and tension usually start easing within 1 to 2 weeks, and comfort tends to keep building from there. Results vary, which is why we check in with you around the two-week mark.

For most people, Botox for TMJ lasts around 3 to 4 months. A lot of our clients rebook before it fully wears off, because the comfort tends to build with consistency. We'll talk through timing that works for you at every visit.

It's the same muscle and the same treatment, just a different focus. Botox for TMJ leads with easing tension, grinding, and jaw pain. Masseter Botox leans more into softening a wider jawline over time. A lot of people get both benefits, and we'll talk through your priorities at your consult.

For a lot of people, relaxing the masseter eases night-time grinding and the soreness that comes with it. It's not a guaranteed fix for everyone, and it can pair really well with a night guard from your dentist. We'll be honest about what's realistic for you.

Botox for TMJ usually needs more units than a forehead treatment because the masseter is a big, strong muscle. The exact number depends on how strong your jaw is, which we check at your consult. We'll always confirm your unit count and full cost before we start, so there are no surprises.

Not really. You can head right back to your day. We just ask you to skip hard workouts, lots of alcohol, and saunas for about 24 hours, and go easy on heavy chewing for the first few hours so the product can settle where we placed it.

Yep. The muscle relaxes, it doesn't switch off. You'll still chew, talk, and smile normally. Some people notice tougher foods feel a touch different for the first week or two, then it settles.

We use a Health Canada-approved neuromodulator and we'll tell you exactly what we're using at your visit. Our team reviews your health history and any allergies before anything is planned.

Botox-type treatments have been used safely for many years when they're done by trained professionals. Our team assesses you first, doses conservatively for your muscle, and works under the medical oversight Ontario requires. We'll go over the details and any questions at your consult.

Often, yes. Lots of our clients pair Botox for TMJ with other treatments for a balanced result. We'll map out what makes sense for you and the right order to do things, with no pressure to add anything you don't want.

Absolutely. Plenty of our clients are guys dealing with clenching, grinding, or jaw tension. We personalize the dose to keep things looking natural and masculine, never overdone.

Because it depends on your unit count, we confirm your full cost at your consult before anything starts. We bill transparently and Beauty Club members get member pricing. Book a consult and we'll give you a clear plan with units and pricing in writing.

We do! Our clinic is in Innisfil, right between Barrie and the rest of Simcoe County, so we see lots of clients from Barrie, Bradford, and beyond. Easy to get to, free parking, and a warm welcome every time.

You're so welcome here. A ton of our Botox for TMJ clients are first-timers who just want their jaw to feel better. We take it slow, explain everything, answer every question, and only start when you feel ready. No judgment, ever.

A few people are not good candidates, and a few should simply wait. We do not treat you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an active skin infection or breakout at the injection site, or if you have had an allergic reaction to a botulinum toxin before. If you have a nerve or muscle condition such as myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or ALS, this treatment may not be right for you, so please tell us. One product, Dysport, is not suitable if you are allergic to cow's milk protein, but we can often use a different product instead. None of this is meant to worry you. We go through your full health history with you at your consult, and if it is not the right time, we will tell you honestly and suggest what to do instead.

Most side effects are mild and go away on their own. The common ones are a little redness, swelling, or bruising where we inject, and sometimes a mild headache, which usually settles within a few days. Because the treatment relaxes muscles, a small number of people notice a temporary droop in an eyelid or brow, or a slightly uneven result. When this happens it is almost always minor and it fades as the product wears off, usually over a few weeks. Serious reactions are rare. Please call us right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking, or breathing, muscle weakness that spreads beyond the treated area, or any sign of an allergic reaction such as a rash, hives, or swelling. We will always walk you through what to expect and how to reach us after your visit.

For TMJ and jaw tension, we usually place about 30 to 50 units into the masseter muscles in total, split between both sides. Your provider confirms your exact dose based on how strong your clench is.
